About the Business and the Role

Lepol is a privately owned and operated company that has been in the construction sector for over 47 years. We specialize in prefabrication construction, metal fabrication, piping systems, and stainless steel.

We are currently searching for an experienced Workshop Foreman who will be responsible for overseeing the general fabrication of steel in our Mordialloc facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality control, mid-production, and final pre-delivery checks
  • Monitoring production hours
  • Preparing welding bays for upcoming jobs
  • Conducting team performance reviews and implementing improvements
  • Material management, including stock, takes for upcoming jobs
  • Motivating the team
  • Reporting to the Operations Manager

Other Daily Responsibilities

  • Ensuring workplace safety
  • Serving as the primary contact for all factory staff
  • Managing incidents, near misses, and hazards
  • Dispatching and receiving goods
  • Ensuring quality assurance and sign-off on all tasks and jobs
  • Tracking task hours (budget vs. actual)
  • Being responsive to emails and responding as required
  • Updating the system with job status information
  • Identifying and implementing “Lean Production” improvements for task efficiency
  • Conducting team performance reviews
  • Maintaining factory assets and machinery
  • Organizing the workplace
  • Managing waste and scrap
  • Organizing the workshop
  • Managing consumables

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in fabrication or welding supervisor roles
  • A team player who works well with peers and colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for their people and the business
  • Living locally within one hour of the Mordialloc area
  • Relevant trade qualifications (Certificate of Proficiency in Fabrication)
  • Relevant welding supervisor qualifications (desirable, not essential)
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Exceptional safety standards
  • Dynamic working abilities
  • Positive work attitude
