Spray Painters

SD’s Auto Painting, Rutherford, NSW has a position vacant for automotive painters assistant, painter tradesman or at least highly skilled 3rd/4th year apprentice to work in custom and restoration automotive painting business, mainly working on vehicles and motorcycles.

We work hand in hand in the same premises with another business who does metal fabrication, modifications, rust and major panel work before we take over for refining and the painting process.

We don’t do any smash work or insurance work. Previous experience in a painters assistant position is preferred if you hold that role. For painters we use solvent based two pack systems through every step of the painting process.

Duties include,
* strip down and reassembly of vehicles. 
* body preparation for epoxy priming, 
* body preparation for priming,  
* minor body work 
* body preparation for colour, 
* cutting of painted finishes for flow coating and         buffing.

Desirable skills and experience would be:-
* knowledge of blocking finishes for smoothness, removing defects and ripples
* knowledge of the paint preparation process
* knowledge of and practical experience of mixing and applying body filler in the preparation process
* knowledge of solvent based 2 pack materials and paints
* ability to work unsupervised and not needing guidance on a project, 
* being able to identify preparation problems in a surface and rectify them
* Fitting new rubbers and seals to vehicles
* general knowledge of reassembly and alignment of panels on vehicles.

Hours are negotiable as is wage based on experience.  We don’t do weekend work and won’t ever ask employees to work weekends or public holidays.
