Memorial Gardens Grounds Person

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Memorial Gardens Grounds Person to join the team at Alex Gow Funerals at their new Thornlands facility. This is a full-time position responsible for helping to establish and maintain our memorial gardens and ensuring the grounds are well-kept and presentable for our clients and visitors.

What you'll be doing

• Helping to establish new gardens including planting and memorials

• Performing regular grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, and pruning

• Caring for the memorial gardens, flower beds, and other landscaping features

• Attending to ashes placements with families.

• Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the facilities buildings, roads, and pathways

• Identifying and addressing any issues or maintenance needs in a timely manner

• Learn to operate a modern cremator

• Assisting with set-up and pack-down for funeral services and events

• Maintaining a clean and organised work environment

• Providing excellent customer service to all visitors

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenance

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards

• Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks in an outdoor environment.

• Good communication skills providing excellent customer service to families and visitors

• Adhering to all health, safety, and environmental protocols

• A valid driver's license (preferably a manual license)

• Collaborating with the wider team to ensure the smooth running of the facility.

The position is based in Thornlands, Brisbane.
