Shift Maintenance Electrician - Sugar Manufacturing

Sunshine Sugar is the only 100% Australian-owned producer of certified sustainable raw and refined sugar products. Over 400 personnel are employed across three manufacturing sites which are all located along the NSW Far North Coast.

This position is based at their Harwood Sugar Mill & Refinery site, which is a dual factory site featuring a wide range of crushing, steam & electricity generation and processing plant and an array of materials handling and high-speed packaging equipment.  

About the Role:

You will be a key member of the site’s maintenance team and provide a breakdown and maintenance support service to production on shift during the continuous operations of both the sugar mill and sugar refinery. The continuous operations for the sugar mill span around six months of the year while the sugar refinery runs all year round with the exception of a number of planned shutdowns.

Your primary focus will be on undertaking breakdown, running repair and preventative maintenance tasks associated with motors, variable speed drives, electrical infrastructure and componentry and a wide range of instrumentation and control systems.  Assisting with the preparation and execution of plant maintenance programs during planned shutdowns also forms part of the role.

A 12-hour shift roster featuring 4 shifts on and 4 days off applies.   

Key Position Requirements:

• Relevant breakdown, maintenance and installation experience in the Electrical and/or Instrumentation fields associated with a manufacturing or similar operation

• Effective troubleshooting and fault-finding skills

• Well-developed communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to liaise and work cooperatively with a wide range of people across the workplace

• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to site Workplace Health & Safety requirements and processes

• Relevant Electrical Trade qualifications 

• Possess a current NSW Qualified Supervisor Certificate (Electrical Work Licence) or equivalent

Relevant qualifications and experience in the Instrumentation and/or Control Systems fields would be highly regarded.

The position is located within the Clarence Valley region of NSW which features pristine beaches, and river surrounds as well as National Parks.  The Harwood Sugar Mill & Refinery is located on the Clarence River within easy commuting distance from the idyllic seaside and river communities of Yamba, Iluka and Maclean.
